- Description: A vaccinia viral based vaccine, encoding epitopes of E6 and E7 proteins from human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16 and 18, with immunostimulatory and antineoplastic activities. HPV types 16 and 18 account for approximately 70% of cervical cancers. Vaccination with this HPV-TA (tumor antigen) vaccine may stimulate the host immune system to mount a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against tumor cells positive for E6 and E7 from either type 16 or 18 HPV, resulting in decreased tumor growth.
