Molecule Role Annotation The aroC deletion in the resultant mutant, designated A2ΔaroC, was confirmed by PCR, Southern hybridization and failure of the mutant to grow in a defined medium without aromatic compounds. The constructed unmarked aroC mutant of B. pseudomallei is attenuated in both BALB/c and C57Bl/6 mice and is able to confer significant protection in C57Bl/6 mice (Srilunchang et al., 2009).
