Vaccine Name: G. lamblia vaccine using attenuated Salmonella vaccine expressing VSPH7Target Pathogen: Giardia lambliaVaccine Ontology ID: VO_0005805Type: Live, attenuated vaccineStatus: ResearchHost Species for Licensed Use: HumanHost Species as Laboratory Animal Model: mouseAntigen: VSPH7 (Müller et al., 1996)Adjuvant: complete Freund's adjuvant

                              Adjuvant name:

							  complete Freund's adjuvant
VO adjuvant ID: VO_0000139Description: CFA is a water-in-oil emulsion consisting of heat-killed Mycobacterium tuberculosis which helps induce immune responses greater than other adjuvants.Adjuvant: incomplete Freund's adjuvant

                              Adjuvant name:

							  incomplete Freund's adjuvant
VO adjuvant ID: VO_0000142Description: IFA - Incomplete Freund's Adjuvant (IFA) is water-in-oil emulsion adjuvant that has been widely tested in humans where it was shown to augment antibody responses greater than other adjuvants. IFA mixed with or used in conjunction with other adjuvant-active compounds has proved successful in animal testing.(Jensen et al., 1998)Immunization Route: Intramuscular injection (i.m.)Description: This vaccine expresses the antigen VSPH7 in the live attenuated Salmonella typhimurium vaccine strain LT2MIC. |
                            | Host Response |
                            | Mouse Response
Host Strain: ZU.ICRHost age: 8 week oldHost gender: FemaleVaccination Protocol: Live-attenuated S. typhimuium ZU.ICR mice from litters were infected post partum by intragastric inoculation of 50 000 G. lamblia trophozoites (GS/M-83-H7). Control animals were inoculated with the same volume of PBS. G. lamblia infected and non-infected offspring (baby) mice from different litters as well as respective mothers were sacrificed on day 32.(Stäger et al., 1997)Immune Response: ELISA-based analysis of intestinal IgA revealed that all mice had produced local anti-VSPH7 antibodies upon exposure to the respective antigen via G. lamblia infection or Salmonella/VSPH7 immunization.(Stäger et al., 1997)Immune Response Assay Type: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) |
