Autologous Tumor Cell Vaccine
Vaccine Information
  • Vaccine Name: Autologous Tumor Cell Vaccine
  • Target Pathogen: Cancer
  • Target Disease: Cancer
  • Vaccine Ontology ID: VO_0007319
  • Type: Recombinant vector vaccine
  • Status: Clinical trial
  • Host Species for Licensed Use: Human
  • Host Species as Laboratory Animal Model: Human
  • CD86 gene engineering:
    • Type: Recombinant protein preparation
    • Description:
    • Detailed Gene Information: Click Here.
  • Preparation: Vaccination consisted of autologous cells cultured from primary tumor or resected metastasis, transduced to express B7.1 surface molecule and then irradiated (Fishman et al., 2008).
  • Description: A therapeutic agent produced by isolating tumor cells from an individual and processing these tumor cells into a vaccine formulation in vitro; the vaccine is then administered to the individual from whom the tumor cells were isolated. Typically combined with an adjuvant immunostimulant, an autologous cell vaccine may elicit a cytotoxic T-lymphocytic immune response to cell surface-expressed tumor-associated antigens (TAAs), resulting in tumor cell death. (NCIT_C1980).

This vaccine has been used in trials involving mantle cell lymphoma and colon cancer. (Hanna, 2012; Frank et al., 2020)
