Host Response |
Baboon Response
- Vaccination Protocol: At 21 days of age, the chickens were randomly divided into four groups of 20 chickens each. Chickens in group 1 were administered 150 μg plasmid pgB alone by intramuscular injection into the quadriceps muscle. Chickens in group 2 were immunized with 150 μg plasmid pgB plus 150 μg plasmid pIL-18. Chickens in group 3, which served as a negative-control group, were immunized with 150 μg plasmid pcDNA3.1(+). Chickens in group 4 were immunized with 0.5 ml sterile PBS alone as a blank control (Chen et al., 2011).
- Vaccine Immune Response Type: VO_0003057
- Immune Response: Compared with the chickens in the pcDNA3.1(+) and PBS group, the chickens in the pgB with or without pIL-18 groups showed significantly increased levels of anti-ILTV antibodies with subsequent vaccination. In addition, an enhanced T-cell proliferative response to gB was clearly observed in the groups immunized with pgB alone or with pgB plus pIL-18 (Chen et al., 2011).
- Challenge Protocol: At 15 days after the booster immunization, all of the chickens were challenged intratracheally with 150 EID50 virulent ILTV CG strain (Chen et al., 2011).
- Efficacy: The protection rates in the pgB and pgB plus pIL-18 groups were 60 and 80 %, respectively (Chen et al., 2011).
