Vaccine Detail

live attenuated Brucella melitensis strain Rev. 1 bp26 and omp31 deletion vaccine
Vaccine Information
  • Vaccine Name: live attenuated Brucella melitensis strain Rev. 1 bp26 and omp31 deletion vaccine
  • Target Pathogen: Brucella spp.
  • Target Disease: Brucellosis
  • Vaccine Ontology ID: VO_0009204
  • Type: Live attenuated vaccine
  • Status: Research
  • Host Species for Licensed Use: Sheep
  • Antigen: bp26 deletion; omp31 deletion
  • Preparation: Live attenuated deletion mutant of Brucella melitensis strain Rev. 1 with bp26 and omp31 genes deleted; administered subcutaneously or conjunctivally. (Grilló et al, 2009)
  • Description: The CGV2631 mutant, deleted in both bp26 and omp31 genes, was evaluated as a vaccine candidate against Brucella ovis infection in sheep. Efficacy: CGV2631 conferred significant protection against Brucella ovis but protection was significantly lower than that conferred by CGV26 and Rev. 1 vaccines. (Grilló et al, 2009)
Host Response

Sheep Response

  • Challenge Protocol: Efficacy tested in rams challenged with Brucella ovis; comparison of protection conferred by CGV2631 versus Rev. 1 and CGV26 mutants. (Grilló et al, 2009)
  • Efficacy: CGV2631 conferred significant protection against Brucella ovis but protection was significantly lower than that conferred by CGV26 and Rev. 1 vaccines. (Grilló et al, 2009)
  • Description: Efficacy tested in rams challenged with Brucella ovis; comparison of protection conferred by CGV2631 versus Rev. 1 and CGV26 mutants. (Grilló et al, 2009)
