Vaccine Detail

Brucella melitensis hsp60 subunit vaccine
Vaccine Information
  • Vaccine Name: Brucella melitensis hsp60 subunit vaccine
  • Target Pathogen: Brucella spp.
  • Target Disease: Brucellosis
  • Vaccine Ontology ID: VO_0009203
  • Type: Subunit vaccine
  • Status: Research
  • Antigen: hsp60
  • Description: The study indicates that hsp60 is an immunogenic heat shock protein produced by Brucella melitensis, though at lower levels than in B. abortus. This lower production may contribute to the higher virulence of B. melitensis. Hsp60 is proposed as a candidate antigen for subunit vaccine development. Immune response: Patient sera showed strong reactivity to hsp60 and other proteins, indicating an immune response specific to infection, while healthy control sera did not react. (Amirmozafari et al, 2008)
Host Response

Human Response

  • Immune Response: Patient sera showed strong reactivity to hsp60 and other proteins, indicating an immune response specific to infection, while healthy control sera did not react. (Amirmozafari et al, 2008)
  • Description: Western blotting with patient and control sera was used to assess antibody responses to bacterial proteins after heat shock treatment. (Amirmozafari et al, 2008)
