inactivated Brucella ovis vaccine with hydroxide adjuvant |
| Vaccine Information |
- Vaccine Name: inactivated Brucella ovis vaccine with hydroxide adjuvant
- Target Pathogen: Brucella spp.
- Target Disease: Brucellosis
- Vaccine Ontology ID: VO_0009032
- Type: Inactivated vaccine
- Status: Research
- Host Species for Licensed Use: Sheep
-
Adjuvant:
hydroxide
- Preparation: Killed (inactivated) vaccine formulated with hydroxide adjuvant. (Masalski, 1978)
- Description: Two killed vaccines were produced using four strains of Brucella ovis, differing by the adjuvant used (hydroxide or oil). Vaccination was applied twice at an interval of 20 days to rams under experimental and field conditions. Efficacy: Rams treated with the hydroxide adjuvant vaccine developed immunity; postvaccinal antibodies disappeared after three months. Immune response: Induction of antibodies detectable by serological tests; immunity considered solid though antibodies declined by three months. (Masalski, 1978)

Sheep Response
- Vaccination Protocol: Vaccination was applied twice at an interval of 20 days to rams under experimental and field conditions. (Masalski, 1978)
- Immune Response: Induction of antibodies detectable by serological tests; immunity considered solid though antibodies declined by three months. (Masalski, 1978)
- Challenge Protocol: Experimental vaccination of rams followed by challenge with virulent Brucella ovis strain on day 45 post-vaccination; serological tests (complement-fixation test, hemagglutination reaction, agar gel immunodiffusion), clinical and bacteriological examination of semen samples. (Masalski, 1978)
