TutorialThis page provides a tutorial for using the features in the Cov19VaxKB website: COVID-19 vaccine lists Click on a specific phase on the following image to access a comprehensive list of vaccines and related data for the corresponding stage of vaccine development:
For example, a click on "Authorized" will lead to the authorzied vaccine page: http://www.violinet.org/cov19vaxkb/authorizedcov19vax.php.
COVID-19 vaccine web query and comparison Our web query interface can be used to generate a filtered list of COVID-19 vaccines. Different keywords such as names, vaccine type, or manufacturer can be specified. Use the drop-down list(s) to specify one or more filters, and type keywords into the adjacent text box.Click on "Search" to generate the filtered list of vaccines:
A list of filtered vaccines and their basic information will be displayed. The user can then select one or more vaccines to compare. Click on "Compare" to display the VIOLIN entries of the selected vaccines:
The VIOLIN entries of the selected vaccines will then be displayed side-to-side:
COVID-19 vaccine adverse event (VAE) web query and statistical data analysis The COVID-19 vaccine safety web page includes adverse event data downloaded from the CDC/FDA VAE Reporting System (VAERS). The downloaded data is stored in our customized relational database and processed for users to query and perform statistical data analysis. Web query: The COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Query generates a list of vaccine adverse events within a specified set of parameters. Users can filter adverse events by vaccine name, vaccination year, US state or territory, etc.:
The following is an example web page with query results:
Click on an adverse event to access a table displaying detailed VAE case reports:
Note: We are in the process of developing more and better visualization of the VAE case report details Statistical data analysis We can also perform statistical data analysis on the VAE data to identify whether an adverse event is statistically significantly associated with a COVID-19 vaccine under a specfic condition.
Note: Our statistical analysis includes three criteria: (i) the minimal number of case reports > 0.2% of the total reports for the vaccine, (ii) proportional reporting ratio (PRR) >2, and (iii) the Chi-square score >4. See references:
In addition, we have provided the summarized staistical results:
DISCLAIMER: Before using this website, please ensure that you have read, understand, and agree on the VAERS disclaimer shown at: https://vaers.hhs.gov/data.html. As described in the indicated CDC/FDA VAERS Disclaimer, the VAERS data largely came from voluntary reporting. It has the advantage of nation-wide reporting and can provide some early warning of potential safety issue(s) with a vaccine. However, the VAERS "Reports may include incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental and unverified information". In addition, the VAERS data alone cannot be used to determine the causality of the identified vaccine adverse event. Instead of being causal, it only shows statistical association.
COVID-19 Vaccine Design This COVID-19 Vaccine Design web page provides a website iframe technology to provide the easy access to the Vaxign2 (another web application in VIOLIN) COVID-19 vaccine design feature. The users can obtain more information from our Vaxign2 Tutorial page: http://www.violinet.org/vaxign2/tutorial.
See more information from our papers:
Literature search A user can enter the literature search page and then choose to find current month's related literature or last month's from the PubMed literature database: For example, the current month can be clicked and the results will be provided in another page. The following screenshot of the results page was generated on 5/22/2021: The user can then click to go to PubMed to get more details for specific articles. The last month's papers can also be obtained using the same method.
